Designed by Bernhardt & Vella for Monography, the Antibes Central Table is an Italian designer coffee table that channels Alvar Aalto's organic modernism through a distinctly contemporary lens. Handcrafted in Italy by a brand known since 2010 for its mastery of lacquered surfaces and precise clean-lined forms, this 2023 collaboration reimagines the central table as something closer to sculpture.
Every contour resists the predictable. Where conventional coffee tables rely on right angles, the Antibes unfolds in fluid, biomorphic curves — smooth lacquered planes that seem to have been shaped by wind or water rather than workshop tools. Monography's veneer construction allows these organic silhouettes to hold their seamless finish, each surface reflecting light in subtle shifts as the eye travels along its form. At just 30 cm in height, the table sits low and unhurried, preserving sightlines and allowing the architecture of a room to breathe above it.
At 167 × 83 cm, the Antibes commands space with quiet authority — an anchor for generous seating arrangements in open-plan living areas, contemporary lofts, or any room where scale and proportion matter. Its curved perimeter softens circulation paths, inviting movement around it rather than imposing rigid boundaries. Monography offers a range of lacquered finishes and veneer options, allowing the piece to be tailored to specific interior palettes.
