The Otto chair by Pietro Costantini distills over a century of Italian woodworking tradition into a single, quietly assured silhouette. Designed by Giuseppe Viganò and handcrafted in Italy at the Costantini atelier in San Giovanni al Natisone, this Italian design dining chair balances sculptural restraint with an intuitive understanding of how the body settles into a meal — and stays.
Solid beech wood forms the frame, its tapered legs rising cleanly to a curved back that traces the natural arc of the spine. Seat and backrest arrive as two distinct padded elements, each shaped independently to cradle without constraining. A central contour cut-out along the rear panel draws the eye and lightens the structure, lending the Otto an almost suspended quality — weight reduced to gesture.
At 56 × 60 × 79.5 cm, the Otto sits comfortably at standard dining tables without crowding its neighbours, making it equally effective around an intimate four-seat arrangement or lining a long hospitality setting. The separate cushions can be reupholstered independently, allowing fabric or leather to be refreshed without replacing the frame. A coordinating stool version is available for unified interiors that extend from dining room to bar counter. Multiple wood finishes and upholstery options ensure the chair adapts to any material palette.

Frequently asked questions
Can the upholstery be customized to match an existing interior scheme?
Yes — the Otto is available in a range of fabric and leather options across the seat and backrest. Because each cushion is a separate element, different materials or colours can be specified independently. Contact us to discuss your project requirements.
Is the Otto suited to high-traffic commercial environments?
The solid beech wood frame is engineered for sustained daily use, and the joint construction reflects Costantini's long experience supplying restaurants and hotels internationally. Independent cushion replacement extends the chair's service life considerably.
