Designed by Beatriz Sempere for Midj — a studio rooted in northeastern Italy since 1987 — the Apelle Bookcase is a modular Italian designer bookcase that rethinks how storage inhabits a room. Four independent segments, each a dialogue between curved wood and precise metal framework, compose a system that can be arranged, separated, and reconsidered as interiors evolve.

The signature gesture lies in the shelves themselves: gently curved wooden elements that arc against the strict geometry of the metal structure. It is a tension between the organic and the linear, warmth meeting restraint, each segment holding its own presence whether standing alone or gathered as a single composition. The effect is architectural — less furniture, more spatial punctuation.

Three heights allow the Apelle to calibrate itself to the room at hand. At 135×43.8×82.5 cm, the most compact configuration sits below sightlines, ideal for open-plan apartments or beneath windows where vertical space is limited. The 135×43.8×131 cm mid-height works naturally alongside desks and in professional studios. The tallest version, 135×43.8×173 cm, commands living rooms and libraries, offering generous vertical storage for substantial collections.
